Reverend Dennis McCarty will return to speak, Paul Maglinger worship leader

Potluck following service.

“This year, Oct. 31 isn’t just Halloween, it’s the 500th Anniversary of the day Martin Luther published his “95 Theses” and kicked off the Protestant Reformation. But there was a long history of brutally suppressed heresies before that. For our Oct. 22 service, Rev. Dennis McCarty will explain “Why We Need Heresy.” Unitarian Universalism traces its descent directly from any number of heresies that were punishable by death before–and even after–Luther and the Reformation made heresy famous.”

Rev. Dennis McCarty served the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus, Indiana from 2003 till 2015, and is now their Minister Emeritus. Over the years he has written novels, songs, nonfiction books, plays, and magazine articles. He’s currently putting the finishing touches on his current book: Monuments: Reflection of Time, Culture, and Spirits in America. This morning, he will also share a couple of songs from his play, Servetus: the Radical Reformed Musical.
