Pastoral Care
InSuk Jo Granholm does a wonderful job of sending out cards on behalf of
the congregation.
Karen Kaminsky will handle hospital calls and visits to those who would
like them.
You
must all act as the eyes and ears for pastoral care. If you notice that folks have been
missing church – why not give them a call.
Please be aware that local hospitals no longer call the church when you
are admitted – unless you specifically request it – even then you may have
returned home by the time the message gets to the church.
So
if you know someone is in the hospital or could use a phone call or visit
– please let InSuk and Karen know.
Funerals
Our worship associates have been trained in how to conduct a
funeral and also two UU ministers have agreed to be on call. Please call
Lincoln (422-9637) if you need to contact someone about a funeral.
Weddings
There are no weddings scheduled for this summer. A number of
ministers in the Evansville area are willing to be contacted about
weddings and Lesbian & Gay Unions if the need should arise.
Please contact
Lincoln for a referral.
From The President:
The congregation said good bye to Rev. Julia Aegerter on Sunday, June
18, 2006. She will be attending UU General Assembly in
St Louis
next week, taking a trip to visit parents in
Florida,
helping out in a LPGA Tournament in
Cincinnati,
and beginning a new career at a hospital in
Indianapolis,
IN. She completed almost a decade with UUCE in the best manner and with
enthusiasm that we all came to know and appreciate. The Sunday service was
followed by a reception, cake and coff.ee put on by the Caring Committee.
Jan Steinmark made a wonderful embroidery showing the stained glass window
chalice and, below, the words to one of our favorite hymns, Spirit Of
Life. We wish her all the best in the future ministering to the folks she
encounters "on-down-the-road". Good fortune, peace, and love in your life
Julia, thank you for coming.
General
Assembly
Ben Sizemore, Link Christensen, Debra Stong, Alan and Marie-Paule
Marty, Jan Steinmark and Becky McDonald are attending the Unitarian Universalist
Association of Congregations General Assembly. They will be bringing part
of that experience back to
Evansville
for sharing on
July 2, 2006. The Board of Directors
voted to provide financial assistance for them from the Yael Haffner
Leadership Training Fund. GA will not be as close to Evansville again for
several years. Board members, as well as committee chairpersons, will be encouraged to attend District and
National events as they can. The Board of Directors
has determined that interaction with other UU's and training by the UUA
National and District organizations can enhance our congregation's
understanding of liberal religious traditions.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
CAJE update:
The dental clinic has opened! This summer we will again have a

Proud Grandma!
Suze Wright has a new grand daughter. Maggie and Charles
Paine are the parents of a baby girl born in Newburgh, Indiana
on May 15, 2006. Mahala Cheyenne weighed 6 pds 10 ozs and was 20.5 inches
long. Mom and baby are doing fine.
New Orleans UU’s Need You!
The New Orleans congregations now are able and willing to have groups
come from our
congregations to help out. They have work that can be done on the church
buildings, members'
homes, and in the community. This is exciting beyond belief!
But
there are conditions: you come in groups of 4-50 people; they need a
month's notice; you plan on staying a minimum of 4 days; you need to be
able to put up with basic camping conditions; you need your tetanus shot;
you need to be able to evacuate yourselves quickly in case of another
hurricane. There is more about this that you can learn by reading the
story in UUWorld on line:
http://www.uuworld.org/news/articles/summervolunteerswelcomeinneworleans4745.shtml.
Or you can
visit the
Baton Rouge
website where this is being coordinated.

Please
consider this for your youth groups, your adults, your willing bodies.
Thanks!
